Get Involved
We would really love as many people as possible to get involved in Standing Up For those that can’t. From simply sending a message of support through to a more hands-on involvement, everyone can be part of this challenge.
This section provides some ideas of how you could get involved in Standing Up For those that can’t. The support ideas we have suggested require varying degrees of involvement with the event but all are important and greatly appreciated by everyone behind Standing Up For those that can’t.

Spread the Word
Publicity is key to help achieve this challenge and to raise as much money as possible for very worthy causes – tell everyone you know.
Social media is probably the easiest and most effective way to show you support for this challenge. Standing up for those that can’t relies heavily upon the use of social media to advertise and promote the cause. Therefore sharing, liking and contributing to our Facebook page would be a huge help in spreading the word.

Make a Donation
Standing Up For those that can’t is obviously a challenge Alan is undertaking with the primary goal of fund raising for our selected charities. Donating through our JustGiving pages is the best way you can show your support. Not only do your donations go towards great causes but they also give huge motivation to Alan to complete this challenge.

Company
Alan is probably coming to a town near you. So if you fancy getting a bit of exercise whilst also showing your support to the challenge then this may be just your cup of tea. Alan would love company along this long and lonely 1700 mile ride. Therefore if you want to join him on any part of the journey you are more than welcome.
Details of the route can be found on The Route section of this website.

A Warm Shower
It goes without saying that this challenge is going to take a big toll on both Alan’s sanity and sanitation. A warm shower or place to sleep for an hour or two may well be able to aid both of these. If you live near any of the planned rest stops and have a shower you don’t mind sacrificing then it would be greatly appreciated by both Alan and anyone that has to be around him during his ride.

'Ride Makers' (Support team)
Alan is probably silly/stupid/mad (take your pick!) enough to attempt this ride unaided, but we are intending to organise as much logistical support as we can. Whilst we hope there may be some ‘warm shower’ breaks available, we would like to have a support vehicle available for as much of the ride as possible. It is intended that the support vehicle (and crew) would meet Alan at his designated meal and sleep stops.
The support vehicle is a huge undertaking and is crucial to Alan as it will provide nutrition, rest and sleep over the course of the two weeks. Anyone that thinks they might be interested in helping with the support team then please get in touch for more information.
