The Charities
The charities that 'Standing Up For those that can't' will support are all causes which Alan has had exposure to personally. Please show your support for the Stand Up Challenge by making a charity donation.
Dementia is a destructive illness which causes distress to everyone involved. It is very upsetting and scary seeing a loved one fade from being the person that they once were. Alan’s father suffered from dementia in the years prior to his passing and Alan’s mother is currently in the grip of this horrible disease.

Although improvements in stroke care mean you are twice as likely to survive a stroke as 20 years ago, the after-effects of surviving a stroke can be devastating for all involved. Alan’s mother-in-law suffered a severe stroke nearly two years ago – she remains paralysed down one side, is unable to speak and requires 24-hour nursing care.

Cancer is an illness that requires no introduction and unfortunately we all know of someone who has suffered. Alan’s brother-in-law died from a brain tumour at the age of just 44.
